Update on my book progress
I am still in the editing phase in my upcoming book. Editing has been far more challenging for than I had anticipated.
I hadn’t realised how many rewrites would be involved, but I felt consoled knowing that some authors like Jeff Goin’s typically go through 5 edits, others go through 30 + edits!
The point here is not to get overly obsessed with how many times you need to keep editing. For those interested, my book has gone through four rounds of edits now.
The main focus as an author-entrepreneur is that you need to keep focused on producing a quality product for your readers.
You do need to watch out for perfectionist tendencies. Sometimes we can be reluctant to share our work because we are afraid of the reaction it will get. What if your readers hate your book? What if you get terrible reviews?
But you need to understand that this is all part of the process when you pursue the entrepreneurial path.
Learn to embrace failure and convert it into feedback.
All writing is rewriting.
Any product you use has been reworked multiple of times.
Nothing perfect is created in the first instance.
The Last Hurdle
I know that I am coming to the final stages of the edits and it’s just the last push I need to get me over the line.
So right now I’m going to stop putting my energy on procrastinating and complaining about editing and just do the work!
So since I am in the final stages of the editing process, I need to nail down my title so that I can get started on cover design (the fun stuff!).
So please do take a moment to vote on your favourite title and be involved in this entrepreneurial journey!
