Whether you already have a book idea or not, finding the purpose of your book is key.
It’s the secret sauce that will help you to complete your book project.
The purpose will act as a driving force reminding you of the importance of this book.
It’s they ‘Why’ behind your actions. It’s the reason for why you will be put in the extra effort to make your book a reality.
When it comes to writing, marketing, and publishing a book, the first step to take is discovering your purpose for beginning this journey in the first place.
To determine that purpose, you must first ask yourself one question: “WHY” are you writing this book?
Start With Why
Determining the reasons for why you are writing your book will bring clarity and let you hone in on exactly what you want out of your book. The rest will then fall into place.
My upcoming book is about how to find your purpose in your life. And equally important it becomes to understand what is the purpose of your book.
A purpose acts like a compass
It sets the direction for where you want to be going. And you are more likely to succeed at something when you have set a direction. In addition, your purpose needs to be important and meaningful to you.
Finding your purpose is one of the most important elements in writing your book. It will help you set expectations for the entire writing, publishing, and marketing process. This will guide you throughout the duration of the book project and help keep your eyes on the most important aspect of the journey, which is writing and publishing your book!
Writing a book is hard
No doubts about that. Yes, writing may be a task that requires little movement and can even appear to be easy as you just ‘sit there and type’.
But writing is hard because you are expressing a very deep part of yourself. It’s a part of yourself that is yearning to come out. It’s your soul trying to communicate with the masses of people you want to connect with. You have a story or message to share that you can’t keep to yourself.
I know this is why I write. I write because I have a message to share and writing helps to express this yearning.
But to become a published author, which is my goal , you need to start thinking like a published author.
To do this you need to ask yourself what is the end goal of your book?
Think like a published author
For some, it’s writing a book that has been on their heart for a long time. It’s something to show immediate family. Or just a side passion project. For others, it’s the start of their media empire and publishing business.
Starting with the end in mind will help you throughout this entire process.
What level of success do you want for yourself and your book?
